With the economy where it is, the harder it is to find the right web design company. We have so many people come to us completely frustrated, completely unable to trust and with a fraction of their budget intact. Too many designers rely on customer ignorance to overcharge, steer them into directions that the designer is comfortable with and even charge for things that never get finished or may never function. When something appears too difficult, they seem to abandon the project, keeping whatever money, of course, and then start instituting charges for anything, like a minimum hour to fix a typo, etc. We have been in business creating a web presence for companies since 1996, instilling confidence if you allow us to quote your job in the beginning and allow us to illustrate our experience and knowledge to help your business be a success on the web. When people come to us to make something function that they paid someone else for, or we are even the third or fourth designer, we have to prove ourselves 3 times over because of the negative experiences they have had. Unfortunately, this happens a lot. The good news for us is that these people that have been put through the wringer previously are long term clients of ours after we bail them out. We would prefer for people looking to have a successful presence on the web to start with an experienced designer and businessperson, not just people who learned to run a program and decided to make a business out of it. In turn, many of them charge exploited rates, and nickel and dime along the way, lack experience and raise rates until they fold because they are trying to keep afloat with the clients that are left, opposed to getting more quality jobs because of their tactics and track record. Unless the scope of a project changes, we always match or come under what we quote. We also know code which makes us much more pliable for cross-browser compatibility and search engine friendliness.
