Building a website and having a web presence is by far the most economical form of advertising. The yellow pages are expensive and not as effective as they used to be. The print media is a dying industry as a whole, so advertising to get a part of a limited time in a decreasing readership for exponentially more than internet advertising on a small, even a large scale would cost, has gotten to the point where it is silly. Ad agencies are showing their lack of progression by still trying to sell companies on stale ideas for too much money.

A number of years ago, people didn't believe it would happen, but they look everything up online. It is a search away, opposed to flipping through the yellow pages, or looking at the classified ads in the back of a magazine. People swore they would always clutch their yellow pages, because the internet was too limiting and they just wanted to call and get the information. With the growth the internet has taken, we do not need to call. Hours, directions, sales, what items or services and what they include is all listed on their website.

It is not just the most economical form of advertising, it is also the most widely reaching. There is a reason Google's stock has been so high. They don't make the bulk of their money on people visiting or offering other services, they make it on people bidding on millions of different word combinations and selling those word combinations to the businesses to be shown when those search terms are used. Of course this is possible because they are so widely used and have such a visitor base, but it is all based on internet advertising.

It is not just the most economical form of advertising, it is the leading form of advertising. Businesses that want to pay-per-click, or want their site designed for search engines to garner natural search results, or even paying for aggressive search engine marketing with natural search engine results, still beats the limited time frame and the budget by far.
