Ministry Task Groups
An Article Written by Dr. Neil Chadwick
In order for our church to develop and continue an effective ministry for edification and evangelism, a great many decisions have to be made. Because it's important that the wise counsel of members be tapped in the making of these decisions, our leaders have formed Ministry Task Groups (MTGs) to assist with making and implementing decisions related to our church buildings and grounds, church finances and community relations. Our present Constitution permits such groups to offer recommendations which must be approved by the Official Board. However, every effort will be made to honor recommendations and proposals which are carefully and prayerfully worked out within the respective groups, and when church resources are available to implement such proposals. Additional MTGs will be formed as the need arises.
Each group may choose from among their members a person to serve as Co-Chair. Each MTG will also choose a member to serve as Recording Secretary. They may also delegate to their members and to others tasks under their supervision. Within one week of each meeting, a copy of each meeting's notes will be given to the Pastor for his information. All policy recommendations will be in writing and brought to the Church Board by the Deacon Liaison.
All of the MTGs will meet at least once every other month, on the fourth Thursday at 7:00 p.m. In addition, each MTG will set the times and locations for additional meetings as needed, informing the Church Office so dates can be placed on the Church Calendar. The Chairman (Deacon) and Co-Chair will take responsibility to inform each member of these meeting times.
As with all church committees, the Pastor will be considered an ex-officio member of the MTGs. He will provide information, counsel and direction when needed, and will be present at meetings if either he or the MTG leaders feel it would be helpful.
Suggested Agenda:
1. Prayer
2. Select Co-Chair and Secretary
3. Receive Reports
4. Consider Areas Needing Attention
5. Receive Requests from Pastor/Deacons
6. Delegate Information Gathering and/or Assignments
7. Formulate Written Proposals
8. Prayer
