Magnificence

by Julie L. McCarty

Soft white billows of clouds

sailed across the ocean blue sky,

when I heard the trumpet sound,

the Glory of the Lord met my eyes.

The crowns upon his head

flashed with thunderings and light,

the sword came from his words,

dividing the wrong from the right.

Like a burning chariot of fire

he approached the earth with speed,

clothed in his righteousness,

upon a white heavenly steed.

My heart trembled with excitement

as my redemption drew near,

the hope of all generations,

his return was finally here.

I lifted my hands to worship him,

as millions of others joined in,

to give praise, honor and glory

to the one who judges all men.

Words cannot describe

the magnificence of that scene,

the beauty of the Son of God,

Lord of Lords, King of Kings.
