It is alarming to realize the nonchalance on the part of many concerning abortion. But it is not new. Years ago Newsweek (July 19, 1971) quoted one medical opinion: "Abortion is finding its place as a perfectly acceptable and valid health measure. We no longer think of it as a crime."
For children, neglect is probably a greater social threat than active abuse. More than
half the reported incidents of maltreatment investigated by Child Protective Service
agencies involve neglect.
Had an abortion, or know someone who has? This hot topic comes at us, in the media, from every angle. But how many of those who've gone through this process know of God's deep, strong love for them?

One of the most amazing things that God has for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists.
The Church is the Body of Christ, and the Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. He fills the Body, directs its movements, controls its members, inspires its wisdom, supplies its strength. He guides into truth, sanctifies its agents, and empowers for witnessing.

Chicagoan James O'Conner runs a fascinating school. It's called the Cuss Control Academy.
In the apostolic age there was the greatest outpouring of the Spirit of God that ever was, both as to His extraordinary influences and gifts, and His ordinary operations in convincing, convicting, enlightening, and sanctifying the souls of men. But as the influences of the true spirit abounded, so counterfeits did also abound.
The so-called "Brownsville Revival", and all of its clones, is a frontal assault on the authority of
the Bible. Man, not God's Word, has become the authority for spiritual
experiences.
In response to the article, "Brownsville Revival, an Analysis", the following letter was received from Rosa L. Knickelbine.
During the past few months, a number of people have responded to the article, 'The Brownsville Revival, An Analysis.' Some of the responses have been favorable, many have not. Several have asked about my own opinion - here's my take.

During the nineteenth century, evangelists
carried revival brands from generation to generation —
men like Peter Cartwright, Asahel
Nettleton, Lyman Beecher, James Caughey,
and Jacob Knapp. But overshadowing all others
were two men: Charles G. Finney and
Dwight L. Moody.
This paper will attempt to identify the arguments used as support for the assertion that Christians can be demon-possessed and will seek to show that such assertions have been based on a priori theological presuppositions, and questionable exegesis.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is either the greatest event, or the greatest fraud in history! Did Jesus Christ actually rise from the dead?
When members of the church are called into leadership, it is helpul for them to have an idea about what is expected of them. This list includes Biblical references, and can be part of the preparation instruction for prospective leaders.
Just as there are physical laws that govern the physical universe, so are there
spiritual laws which govern your relationship with God.
For the Christian community, the '90s will be a time of unprecedented challenge - and opportunity. While many of the changes that will occur could threaten the stability and capacity of the Church to make an impact on our society, other changes are opening the doors for new forms of ministry.

More than 1900 years ago there was a man born contrary
to the laws of life. The man lived in poverty and was
raised in obscurity. Only once did he cross the boundary
of the country in which he was raised and that was during
his exile in childhood.
Hermann Hesse, who died in 1962, was a Swiss author. He was brought up in a missionary household, but ran away from Maulbronn seminary when he was 14, and later was expelled from high school.

One of the oldest continually enacted myths in the world is the Babylonian creation story (the Enuma Elish) from around 1250 B.C.E. The tale bears repeating, because it holds the clue to the appeal of that ancient myth in our modern media.
The story of the resurrection is reliable history. Even people who don’t believe that Jesus rose from the dead do believe that He was a good man and a prophet sent from God. If this is valid, then He must be considered a truthful man even when He spoke about his own resurrection.

These quotes are very interesting. Tacitus and Suetonius do not have any reason to mention either Christ or Christianity in their writings. Neither were Christians or seemed favorably disposed toward them, yet they both corroborate both Christ's existence and the existence of the Christian movement.
In the extremely popular book and now movie, 'Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring,' a number of statements are made related to the subject fear. (II Tmonthy 1:7)

The Pentecostal movement is by far the largest and most important religious movement to originate in

Kansas, the number of Pentecostals increased steadily throughout the world during the Twentieth

Our text suggests to us three things: first, an inquiry - Have we the Spirit? secondly, a caution - if we have not the spirit we are sensual; thirdly, a suspicion - there are many persons that separate themselves. Our suspicion concerning them is, that notwithstanding their extra-superfine profession, they are sensual, not having the Spirit.
Persecution of Christians is as old as the Church itself. The reality is, persecution is happening now at a more intense level than ever in history.
Ever since the great work of God that was wrought here about nine years ago, there has been a great and abiding alteration in this town in many respects. There has been vastly more religion kept up in the town, among all sorts of persons, in religious exercises, and in common conversation; there has been a great alteration among the youth of the town.
Among many Christians the Age of the Earth could not be more of a non-issue. For others there is a huge division of those who passionately defend an Old Earth vs. those who support a young earth. On face value, it would seem not that relevant. But I firmly believe upon further examination of the Scriptures there are not options open to us who are commanded to 'contend for the faith once and for all delivered to the saints'.

when this would happen, but lately I just punch a hole in the wall, or leave and go for a long drive."
The self-sins are self-righteousness, self-pity, self-sufficiency,
self-admiration, self-love and a host of others like them. They dwell
too deep within us and are too much a part of our natures to come to our
attention till the light of God is focused upon them.

ALL HALLOWS' EVE, or Halloween, originated in the 7th century AD. It was celebrated on 13 May and was a night to remember deceased saints and martyrs. 'And so, my friends and fellow believers in Christ's injunction to send the gospel abroad into every land, it is with great pleasure that I want to present to our beloved brothers and sisters in the church behind what we have called the Iron Curtain these last fifty years, a check from money raised by faithful believers across America.'

Over the past few years, a relatively new scientific approach to the study
of the Bible has become the darling of evangelical scholarship. Reacting
to the twin Philistine giants of atheism on the one hand, and the
subjectivity of religious experience on the other, bright stars in the
constellation of conservative scholarship have insisted on the development
of intellectual inquiry as the main course in the diet of serious Bible
students everywhere.

Scores are born into this world who never see a Bible, never listen to a
gospel sermon, never even hear the name of "Jesus Christ," let alone know
His identity. They never meet a Christian missionary, walk into a
Christian church, nor receive an invitation to be saved through Jesus'
grace.
"Roe v. Wade" has been a hot topic of debate ever since the Supreme Court rendered the 1973 decision which legalized abortion. Amazing at it may seem, "Jane Roe", the plaintiff in this land mark case, subsequently renounced her former pro-abortion stance after becoming a Christian.

There are 575 references in the Bible to singing and songs. Often we take our privilege to sing too lightly. A quick review of the history of singing will help strenghten our resolve to keep vibrant this important aspect of our worship.

Zephaniah 3:18 - "I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden." This is a dual prophecy by Zephaniah. It has to do with the children of Israel, and also with spiritual Zion (which is the church of Jesus Christ of the last day). First of all, he was speaking to Jews - that God was going to gather together the dispersed; but He was only going to bring back those who had a broken heart for the sad condition of Israel.
