The Missions Advisory Commission (MAC) will consist of 6-10 people who have a very strong interest in World Evangelization. Members of this group will be nominated by the Chairperson in consultation with the Pastor, and approved by the Deacons. At least one half of these members must be on the current active membership list of the church. This group will meet at least six times each year, meeting times and locations to be arranged by the Chairperson. The Pastor will always be invited to attend the regular and any special meetings of the MAC, although at times he may decide not to be present.
The MAC will become well informed concerning all areas of Foreign and Home Missions, and assist the congregation to also become infomed. An updated list of all church supported missionaries and missions agencies will be kept. This should include personal information concerning the Missionaries (home and field adresses, birth dates) along with a description of the nature of their work.
Complete updated information will also be kept concerning the financial condition of the church's missionary fund. A designated member of the MAC will receive a montly report concerning designated giving for missions. The group will participate in the church's annual budget process as it relates to missions funds.
Members of the MAC, along with others recruited by them, will endavor to pray faithfully for, and communicate with Missionaries, endeavoring to remember them at special times each year, i.e. holidays and birthdays.
Letters from Missionaries and Missions Agencies will be passed on to the MAC, and specific information including prayer requests will be related to the congregation by way of Bulletin Board, Sunday Bulletin, Newsletter and occasional presentations particularly during the Mid-week Prayer and Bible Study Service.
Once or twice each year, the MAC will formulate plans for a special one week Missions emphasis for the entire church. Efforts will be made to involve as many individuals and ministry groups as possible in this event, and widely publicize these special events. The Pastor will be given recommendations for speakers, and will approve all of the plans of the MAC before they begin to be implemented.
Whenever a missionary speaker wishes to present to the congregation the need of their work, the Pastor will first pass on to the MAC information concerning this request, and receive from them advice as to whether the missionary should be invited. In addition, no regular support will be offered to any missionary or missions agency without the MAC being given opportunity to make a recommendation.
